Chapter 32: Śūrpaṇakhā Goes to Meet Rāvaṇa
Text 3.32.5
आसीनं सूर्यसङ्काशे काञ्चने परमासने।
रुक्मवेदिगतं प्राज्यं ज्वलन्तमिव पावकम्॥
āsīnaṁ sūrya-saṅkāśe kāñcane paramāsane
rukma-vedi-gataṁ prājyaṁ jvalantam iva pāvakam
āsīnam = sitting; sūrya-saṅkāśe = that resembled the sun; kāñcane = golden; parama-āsane = on an excellent seat; rukma-vedi-gatam = in an altar built with golden bricks 1; prājyam = which is fed with abundant ghee; jvalantam = and which burns; iva = he resembled; pāvakam = a sacrificial fire.
Sitting on an excellent golden seat that resembled the sun, he resembled a sacrificial fire which is fed with abundant ghee and which burns in an altar built with golden bricks.
