Chapter 38: Mārīca Instructs Rāvaṇa
Text 3.38.19
तेन मुक्तस्ततो बाणः शितः शत्रुनिबर्हणः।
तेनाहं त्वाहतः क्षिप्तः समुद्रे शतयोजने॥
tena muktas tato bāṇaḥ śitaḥ śatru-nibarhaṇaḥ
tenāhaṁ tv āhataḥ kṣiptaḥ samudre śata-yojane
tena = He; muktaḥ = released; tataḥ = then; bāṇaḥ = arrow; śitaḥ = a sharp; śatru-nibarhaṇaḥ = that could destroy His enemies; tena = by that arrow; aham tu = I; āhataḥ = struck; kṣiptaḥ = was thrown; samudre = into the ocean; śata-yojane = a hundred yojanas away.
He then released a sharp arrow that could destroy His enemies. Struck by that arrow, I was thrown a hundred yojanas away into the ocean.
