न कादली न प्रियकी न प्रवेणी न चाविकी।
भवेदेतस्य सदृशी स्पर्शनेनेति मे मतिः॥
na kādalī na priyakī na praveṇī na cāvikī
bhaved etasya sadṛśī sparśaneneti me matiḥ
na = neither; kādalī = the skin of the kadalī deer; na = nor; priyakī = the skin of the priyakī deer; na = nor; praveṇī = the praveṇī wool; na ca = nor; avikī = sheep wool; bhavet = would; etasya = to this; sadṛśī = be similar; sparśanena = in softness of touch; iti = this is; me = My; matiḥ = opinion.
Neither the skin of the kadalī deer, nor the skin of the priyakī deer, nor the praveṇī wool, nor sheep wool would be similar to this in softness of touch. This is My opinion.1
1 Lord Rāmacandra speaks texts 34 and 35 in case He has to kill the deer. And He speaks text 37 in case He doesn’t have to kill it—it is so beautiful that it is worth preserving alive.
