Chapter 43: Sītā Sees the Magical Deer
Text 3.43.43
त्वयाविगण्य वातापे परिभूताः स्वतेजसा।
जीवलोके द्विजश्रेष्ठास्तस्मादसि जरां गतः॥
tvayāvigaṇya vātāpe paribhūtāḥ sva-tejasā
jīva-loke dvija-śreṣṭhās tasmād asi jarāṁ gataḥ
tvayā = you; avigaṇya = carelessly; vātāpe = Vātāpi; paribhūtāḥ = have overcome; sva-tejasā = using your prowess; jīva-loke = in Bhūloka; dvija-śreṣṭhāḥ = the excellent twice-born; tasmāt = therefore; asi = you; jarām gataḥ = have [now] decayed.
Vātāpi, you have carelessly overcome the excellent twice-born in Bhūloka using your prowess. Therefore you have [now] decayed.
