Chapter 44: Śrī Rāma Kills Mārīca
Text 3.44.16

तालमात्रमथोत्प्लुत्य न्यपतत्स शरातुरः।
विनदन्भैरवं नादं धरण्यामल्पजीवितः॥

tāla-mātram athotplutya nyapatat sa śarāturaḥ
vinadan bhairavaṁ nādaṁ dharaṇyām alpa-jīvitaḥ

tāla-mātram = he was as tall as a tāla tree; atha = then; utplutya = sprang out [of the body of the deer]; nyapatat = he fell down; saḥ = Mārīca; śara-āturaḥ = pained by the arrow; vinadan = while roaring; bhairavam = a terrible; nādam = sound; dharaṇyām = on the ground; alpa-jīvitaḥ = whose remaining life span was short.

Mārīca, whose remaining life span was short, then sprang out [of the body of the deer]. He was as tall as a tāla tree. Pained by the arrow, he fell down on the ground while roaring a terrible sound.
