Chapter 45: Sītā Chastises Lakṣmaṇa
Text 3.45.30
न सहे हीदृशं वाक्यं वैदेहि जनकात्मजे।
श्रोत्रयोरुभयोर्मेऽद्य तप्तनाराचसन्निभम्॥
na sahe hīdṛśaṁ vākyaṁ vaidehi janakātmaje
śrotrayor ubhayor me ’dya tapta-nārāca-sannibham
na sahe hi = I cannot tolerate; īdṛśam = such; vākyam = words; vaidehi = O Princess of Videha; janaka-ātmaje = and daughter of King Janaka; śrotrayoḥ ubhayoḥ = ears; me = to My; adya = now; tapta-nārāca-sannibham = that seem to be heated arrows of steel.
O Princess of Videha and daughter of King Janaka, I cannot tolerate such words that now seem to My ears to be heated arrows of steel.
