प्रतिगृह्य तु कैकेयी श्वशुरं सुकृतेन मे।

pratigṛhya tu kaikeyī śvaśuraṁ sukṛtena me
mama pravrājanaṁ bhartur bharatasyābhiṣecanam
dvāv ayācata bhartāraṁ satya-sandhaṁ nṛpottamam
pratigṛhya tu = having made swear; kaikeyī = Queen Kaikeyī; śvaśuram = father-in-law; sukṛtena = on dharma; me = my; mama = my; pravrājanam = the exile; bhartuḥ = of husband; bharatasya = of Bharata; abhiṣecanam = and the coronation; dvau = for two boons; ayācata = requested; bhartāram = and her husband; satya-sandham = who was true to his promises; nṛpa-uttamam = the excellent King Daśaratha.
Having made the excellent King Daśaratha, my father-in-law and her husband who was true to his promises, swear on dharma, Queen Kaikeyī requested for two boons: the exile of my husband and the coronation of Bharata.
Sukṛtena also indicates that Queen Kaikeyī had brought the king under her control on the basis of a favor [she had done to him], that is, she had reminded him of having favored him [in the past] by giving him his life.
