Chapter 47: Rāvaṇa Reveals his Identity to Sītā
Text 3.47.8
नाद्य भोक्ष्ये न च स्वप्स्ये न पास्ये च कथञ्चन।
एष मे जीवितस्यान्तो रामो यद्यभिषिच्यते॥
nādya bhokṣye na ca svapsye na pāsye ca kathañcana
eṣa me jīvitasyānto rāmo yady abhiṣicyate
na = not; adya = [Kaikeyī said:] today; bhokṣye = I will eat; na = not; ca = and; svapsye = I will sleep; na = not; pāsye ca kathañcana = I will drink; eṣaḥ = right here; me = my; jīvitasya = life; antaḥ = will end; rāmaḥ = Rāma; yadi = if; abhiṣicyate = is coronated.
[Kaikeyī said:] Today I will not eat, I will not drink, and I will not sleep. My life will end right here if Rāma is coronated.
