Chapter 47: Rāvaṇa Reveals his Identity to Sītā
Text 3.47.38
क्षुधितस्य हि सिंहस्य मृगशत्रोस्तरस्विनः।
आशीविषस्य वदनाद्दंष्ट्रामादातुमिच्छसि॥
kṣudhitasya hi siṁhasya mṛga-śatros tarasvinaḥ
āśī-viṣasya vadanād daṁṣṭrām ādātum icchasi
kṣudhitasya hi = of a hungry; siṁhasya = lion; mṛga-śatroḥ = that is the enemy of creatures; tarasvinaḥ = and swift; āśī-viṣasya = or a deadly poisonous snake; vadanāt = from the mouth; daṁṣṭrām = the fangs; ādātum = to take away; icchasi = you want.
You want to take away the fangs from the mouth of a hungry and swift lion or a deadly poisonous snake that is the enemy of creatures!1
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: ca-kāro draṣṭavyaḥ. kṣudhitasya tarasvina iti cāśī-viṣasyāpi viśeṣaṇam. atra sadṛśayor vākyārthayor aikyāropān nidarśanālaṅkāraḥ.
It is impossible for Rāvaṇa to take [her] away [from Lord Rāma] in any possible manner.
