संरक्तनयनः श्रीमांस्तप्तकाञ्चनकुण्डलः।
क्रोधेन महताविष्टो नीलजीमूतसन्निभः।
दशास्यः कार्मुकी बाणी बभूव क्षणदाचरः॥
saṁrakta-nayanaḥ śrīmāṁs tapta-kāñcana-kuṇḍalaḥ
krodhena mahatāviṣṭo nīla-jīmūta-sannibhaḥ
daśāsyaḥ kārmukī bāṇī babhūva kṣaṇadācaraḥ
saṁrakta-nayanaḥ = his eyes became red; śrīmān = he became radiant; tapta-kāñcana-kuṇḍalaḥ = he now had earrings of molten gold; krodhena = anger; mahatā = by great; āviṣṭaḥ = overcome; nīla-jīmūta-sannibhaḥ = and the complexion of a blue cloud; daśa-āsyaḥ = with ten heads; kārmukī = and held a bow; bāṇī = and arrows; babhūva = assumed a form; kṣaṇadācaraḥ = the night-ranger.
Overcome by great anger, the night-ranger assumed a form with ten heads and held a bow and arrows. His eyes became red. He became radiant. He now had earrings of molten gold and the complexion of a blue cloud.
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: śrīmān vicitra-śakti-sampannaḥ.
“He became radiant” means “He exhibited a variety of potencies.”1
In the next two verses, the author repeats his description and states how Rāvaṇa became cruel in another manner.
