Chapter 52: Rāvaṇa Again Abducts Sītā
Text 3.52.23
तस्याः कौशेयमुद्धूतमाकाशे कनकप्रभम्।
बभौ चादित्यरागेण ताम्रमभ्रमिवातपे॥
tasyāḥ kauśeyam uddhūtam ākāśe kanaka-prabham
babhau cāditya-rāgeṇa tāmram abhram ivātape
tasyāḥ = her; kauśeyam = silken garment; uddhūtam = shaking violently; ākāśe = in the air; kanaka-prabham = possessing a golden hue; babhau ca = shone; ca āditya-rāgeṇa = because of the heat of the sun; tāmram = that had reddened; abhram = a cloud; iva = like; ātape = midday.
Shaking violently in the air, her silken garment possessing a golden hue shone like a cloud that had reddened because of the heat of the midday sun.1
