Text 3.57.4
इक्ष्वाकूणां कुले जातः सिंहस्कन्धो महाद्युतिः।
लक्ष्मणेन सह भ्रात्रा यस्ते प्राणान्हरिष्यति॥
ikṣvākūṇāṁ kule jātaḥ siṁha-skandho mahā-dyutiḥ
lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā yas te prāṇān hariṣyati
ikṣvākūṇām = of the Ikṣvākus; kule = in the family; jātaḥ = He is born; siṁha-skandhaḥ = He has the shoulders of a lion; mahā-dyutiḥ = and possesses great radiance; lakṣmaṇena = Lakṣmaṇa; saha = with; bhrātrā = His brother; yaḥ = He; te = your; prāṇān = life; hariṣyati = will take away.
He is born in the family of the Ikṣvākus. He has the shoulders of a lion and possesses great radiance. With His brother Lakṣmaṇa He will take away your life.
She implies, “He has incarnated in the dynasty of Ikṣvāku with His brother just to kill you. And so I am not afraid of you.”
She then anticipates that Rāvaṇa might ask, “Then how is it that Rāma stands silently [while I abducted you]?” and speaks the next verse.
