उद्भ्रमन्निव वेगेन विक्षिपन्रघुनन्दनः।
तत्रतत्रोटजस्थानमभिवीक्ष्य समन्ततः॥
ददर्श पर्णशालां च रहितां सीतया तदा।
श्रिया विरहितां ध्वस्तां हेमन्ते पद्मिनीमिव॥
udbhramann iva vegena vikṣipan raghu-nandanaḥ
tatra tatroṭaja-sthānam abhivīkṣya samantataḥ
dadarśa parṇa-śālāṁ ca rahitāṁ sītayā tadā
śriyā virahitāṁ dhvastāṁ hemante padminīm iva
udbhraman = to fly about; iva = seemed; vegena = and because of His swiftness; vikṣipan = in His agitated stage; raghu-nandanaḥ = Raghunandana; tatra tatra = here and there; uṭaja-sthānam = the leaf-cottage; abhivīkṣya = He looked; samantataḥ = all over; dadarśa = and noticed that; parṇa-śālām ca = it; rahitām = without; sītayā = Sītā; tadā = then; śriyā = of beauty; virahitām = devoid; dhvastām = a damaged; hemante = in winter; padminīm = lotus; iva = was like.
In His agitated state and because of His swiftness, Raghunandana seemed to fly about here and there.1 He looked all over the leaf-cottage and then noticed that, without Sītā, it was like a damaged lotus that was devoid of beauty in winter.
1 Raghunandana means “the beloved [descendant] of the Raghus.”
When [Lord Raghunandana] became agitated, He threw His arms about.
