Chapter 60: Rāma Searches for Sītā
Text 3.60.24
गज सा गजनासोरूर्यदि दृष्टा त्वया भवेत्।
तां मन्ये तुभ्यमाख्याहि वरवारण॥
gaja sā gaja-nāsorūr yadi dṛṣṭā tvayā bhavet
tāṁ manye tubhyam ākhyāhi vara-vāraṇa
gaja = O elephant; sā = Sītā; gaja-nāsa-ūrūḥ = whose thighs resemble the trunk of an elephant; yadi = if; dṛṣṭā tvayā bhavet = you have seen; tām = about her; manye = I suspect; tubhyam = that you know; ākhyāhi = tell [Me]; vara-vāraṇa = O excellent elephant.
O elephant, if you have seen Sītā whose thighs resemble the trunk of an elephant, tell [Me]! O excellent elephant, I suspect that you know about her.
