Chapter 62: Rāma’s Mental Confusion
Text 3.62.11
हा ममार्ये क्व यातासि हा साध्वि वरवर्णिनि।
हा सकामा त्वया देवी कैकेयी सा भविष्यति॥
hā mamārye kva yātāsi hā sādhvi vara-varṇini
hā sakāmā tvayā devī kaikeyī sā bhaviṣyati
hā = O; mama = My; ārye = lady who is fit to be worshipped by the worlds; kva = where; yātā = gone; asi = have you; hā = O; sādhvi = saintly lady; vara-varṇini = of golden complexion; hā = alas; sakāmā = desires fulfilled; tvayā = because of you; devī = Queen; kaikeyī sā = Kaikeyī’s; bhaviṣyati = will be.
O My lady who is fit to be worshipped by the worlds, O saintly lady of golden complexion, where have you gone? Alas, Queen Kaikeyī’s desires will be fulfilled because of you!
“Because of you, Queen Kaikeyī’s desires will be fulfilled” means “Because of you, I will die, and therefore Queen Kaikeyī’s desires will be fulfilled.”
