Chapter 62: Rāma’s Mental Confusion
Text 3.62.17
मामिहोत्सृज्य हि वने गच्छायोध्यां पुरीं शुभाम्।
न त्वहं तां विना सीतां जीवेयं हि कथञ्चन॥
mām ihotsṛjya hi vane gacchāyodhyāṁ purīṁ śubhām
na tv ahaṁ tāṁ vinā sītāṁ jīveyaṁ hi kathañcana
mām = Me; iha = here; utsṛjya = leave; hi = just; vane = in the forest; gaccha = and go; ayodhyām = of Ayodhyā; purīm = city; śubhām = to the auspicious; na tu = never; aham = I; tām1 vinā = without; sītām = Sītā; jīveyam hi = can live; kathañcana = under any circumstance.
Just leave Me here in the forest and go to the auspicious city of Ayodhyā! I can never live without Sītā under any circumstance.

“Under any circumstance” means “even if You console Me.”
