Chapter 62: Rāma’s Mental Confusion
Text 3.62.16
अथ वा न गमिष्यामि पुरीं भरतपालिताम्।
स्वर्गोऽपि सीतया हीनः शून्य एव मतो मम॥
atha vā na gamiṣyāmi purīṁ bharata-pālitām
svargo ’pi sītayā hīnaḥ śūnya eva mato mama
atha vā = perhaps; na = not; gamiṣyāmi = I should go; purīm = to the city; bharata-pālitām = even though it is protected by Bharata; svargaḥ = Svarga; api = even; sītayā = Sītā; hīnaḥ = without; śūnyaḥ eva = is worthless; mataḥ = this is opinion; mama = My.
Perhaps I should not go to the city even though it is protected by Bharata. Even Svarga is worthless without Sītā.1 This is My opinion.
