मुक्तामणिमयं चेदं तपनीयविभूषितम्।
धरण्यां पतितं सौम्य कस्य भग्नं महद्धनुः।
राक्षसानामिदं वत्स सुराणामथवापिवा॥
muktā-maṇi-mayaṁ cedaṁ tapanīya-vibhūṣitam
dharaṇyāṁ patitaṁ saumya kasya bhagnaṁ mahad dhanuḥ
rākṣasānām idaṁ vatsa surāṇām atha vāpi vā
muktā-maṇi-mayam = it has abundant pearls and gems on it; ca = and; idam = is this; tapanīya-vibhūṣitam = is ornamented with gold; dharaṇyām = on the ground; patitam = and it has fallen; saumya = gentle; kasya = whose; bhagnam = it has been broken; mahat = great; dhanuḥ = bow; rākṣasānām = belongs to the rākṣasas; idam = it; vatsa = child; surāṇām = the devas; atha vā = or may be; api vā = perhaps.
Gentle child, whose is this great bow? It has been broken and it has fallen on the ground. It has abundant pearls and gems on it, and is ornamented with gold. Perhaps it belongs to the rākṣasas or may be the devas.
