Chapter 64: Rāma Discovers Some Clues About Sītā’s Whereabouts
Text 3.64.56
कर्तारमपि लोकानां शूरं करुणवेदिनम्।
अज्ञानादवमन्येरन्सर्वभूतानि लक्ष्मण॥
kartāram api lokānāṁ śūraṁ karuṇa-vedinam
ajñānād avamanyeran sarva-bhūtāni lakṣmaṇa
kartāram = the creator; api = even; lokānām = of the worlds; śūram = hero; karuṇa-vedinam = if he is a merciful; ajñānāt = out of ignorance; avamanyeran = can dishonor; sarva-bhūtāni = all creatures; lakṣmaṇa = Lakṣmaṇa.
Lakṣmaṇa, out of ignorance all creatures can dishonor the creator of the worlds, even if he is a merciful hero.
In other words, this is the nature of the world.
The proud devas, especially, wouldn’t respect Lord Rāma. With this in mind, He speaks the next verse.
