तं तथा शोकसन्तप्तं विलपन्तमनाथवत्।
मोहेन महताविष्टं परिद्यूनमचेतनम्॥
ततः सौमित्रिराश्वास्य मुहूर्तादिव लक्ष्मणः।
रामं सम्बोधयामास चरणौ चाभिपीडयन्॥
taṁ tathā śoka-santaptaṁ vilapantam anāthavat
mohena mahatāviṣṭaṁ paridyūnam acetanam
tataḥ saumitrir āśvāsya muhūrtād iva lakṣmaṇaḥ
rāmaṁ sambodhayām āsa caraṇau cābhipīḍayan
tam = He; tathā = thus; śoka-santaptam = was burning in anxiety; vilapantam = while lamenting; anāthavat = like an orphan; mohena = perplexity; mahatā = by great; āviṣṭam = was overcome; paridyūnam = He bewailed; acetanam = and His mind was disturbed; tataḥ = after; saumitriḥ = the son of Sumitrā-devī; āśvāsya = consoling Him; muhūrtāt iva = for a while; lakṣmaṇaḥ = Lakṣmaṇa; rāmam = Lord Rāma; sambodhayām āsa = informed [Śrī Rāma as follows]; caraṇau ca = His feet; abhipīḍayan = while holding firmly.
Lord Rāma was thus burning in anxiety while lamenting like an orphan. He was overcome by great perplexity. He bewailed and His mind was disturbed. After consoling Him for a while, Lakṣmaṇa, the son of Sumitrā-devī, informed [Śrī Rāma as follows] while holding His feet firmly.
In this chapter, Lakṣmaṇa continues to console Rāma.
