निकृत्तपक्षं रुधिरावसिक्तं स गृध्रराजं परिरभ्य रामः।
क्व मैथिली प्राणसमा ममेति विमुच्य वाचं निपपात भूमौ॥
nikṛtta-pakṣaṁ rudhirāvasiktaṁ
sa gṛdhra-rājaṁ parirabhya rāmaḥ
kva maithilī prāṇa-samā mameti
vimucya vācaṁ nipapāta bhūmau
nikṛtta-pakṣam = whose wings had been cut; rudhira-avasiktam = and who was soaked with blood; saḥ = the Lord; gṛdhra-rājam = the king of vultures; parirabhya = embraced; rāmaḥ = Rāma; kva = where is; maithilī = Maithilī; prāṇa-samā = who is equal to very life; mama iti = My; vimucya = after uttering; vācam = the words; nipapāta = fell; bhūmau = on the ground.
Rāma embraced the king of vultures whose wings had been cut and who was soaked with blood. The Lord fell on the ground after uttering the words, “Where is Maithilī who is equal to My very life?”
