Chapter 68: Jaṭāyu’s Liberation
Text 3.68.10
परिश्रान्तस्य मे तात पक्षौ छित्त्वा स राक्षसः।
सीतामादाय वैदेहीं प्रयातो दक्षिणां दिशम्॥
pariśrāntasya me tāta pakṣau chittvā sa rākṣasaḥ
sītām ādāya vaidehīṁ prayāto dakṣiṇāṁ diśam
pariśrāntasya = when I became tired of battling [with him]; me = my; tāta = dear child; pakṣau = wings; chittvā = cut; saḥ = the; rākṣasaḥ = rākṣasa; sītām = Sītā; ādāya = he then took; vaidehīm = the princess of Videha; prayātaḥ = and departed; dakṣiṇām diśam = to the south.
Dear child, when I became tired of battling [with him], the rākṣasa cut my wings. He then took Sītā, the princess of Videha, and departed to the south.
