Chapter 68: Jaṭāyu’s Liberation
Text 3.68.9
हृता सा राक्षसेन्द्रेण रावणेन विहायसा।
मायामास्थाय विपुलां वातदुर्दिनसंकुलाम्॥
hṛtā sā rākṣasendreṇa rāvaṇena vihāyasā
māyām āsthāya vipulāṁ vāta-durdina-saṅkulām
hṛtā = and abducted; sā = her; rākṣasa-indreṇa = the lord of the rākṣasas; rāvaṇena = Rāvaṇa; vihāyasā = through the sky; māyām = magical powers of deception; āsthāya = used; vipulām = his extensive; vāta-durdina-saṅkulām = that created winds and a cloudy atmosphere 1.
Rāvaṇa, the lord of the rākṣasas, used his extensive magical powers of deception that created winds and a cloudy atmosphere, and abducted her through the sky.
