Chapter 74: Lord Rāma Visits Śabarī
Text 3.74.10
रामेण तापसी पृष्टा सा सिद्धा सिद्धसम्मता।
शशंस शबरी वृद्धा रामाय प्रत्युपस्थिता॥
rāmeṇa tāpasī pṛṣṭā sā siddhā siddha-sammatā
śaśaṁsa śabarī vṛddhā rāmāya pratyupasthitā
rāmeṇa = [and when] Śrī Rāma; tāpasī = ascetic; pṛṣṭā = asked [her the above questions]; sā = she; siddhā = was a perfected; siddha-sammatā = and she had been approved by the perfected souls; śaśaṁsa = replied [as follows]; śabarī = Śabarī; vṛddhā = the elderly lady; rāmāya = for Rāmacandra [for so long]; pratyupasthitā = she had waited.
The elderly lady Śabarī was a perfected ascetic and she had been approved by the perfected souls. She had waited for Rāmacandra [for so long, and when] Śrī Rāma asked her [the above questions], she replied [as follows].
