बिभेद च पुनः सालान्सप्तैकेन महेषुणा।
गिरिं रसातलं चैव जनयन्प्रत्ययं तदा॥
bibheda ca punaḥ sālān saptaikena maheṣuṇā
giriṁ rasātalaṁ caiva janayan pratyayaṁ tadā
bibheda ca = pierced; punaḥ = furthermore; sālān = sāla trees; sapta = seven; ekena = with a single; mahā-iṣuṇā = great bow; girim = the mountain nearby; rasātalam = Rasātala; ca eva = and; janayan = thus generating; pratyayam tadā = confidence in Him.
Furthermore, with a single great bow, Rāma then pierced seven sāla trees, the mountain [nearby] and Rasātala, thus generating confidence in Him.
Sugrīva had argued that Vālī had been tired due to battling Dundubhi for a long time and that he had to kick a body filled with bodily fluids while Rāma was in good health and He only had to kick a body dried out of all bodily fluids. Therefore, Sugrīva was still not confident [of Rāmacandra’s ability to successfully battle Vālī]. Therefore, Lord Rāma performed another act to generate confidence in Him. Rasātala is the sixth of the lower planetary systems.
