Chapter 1: Contents of the Rāmāyaṇa Summarized
Text 1.1.84

देवताभ्यो वरं प्राप्य समुत्थाप्य च वानरान्।
अयोध्यां प्रस्थितो रामः पुष्पकेण सुहृद्वृतः॥

devatābhyo varaṁ prāpya samutthāpya ca vānarān
ayodhyāṁ prasthito rāmaḥ puṣpakeṇa suhṛd-vṛtaḥ

devatābhyaḥ = the celestials; varam = a boon; prāpya = having obtained; samutthāpya ca = gave life; vānarān = to the monkeys [who had died on the battlefield]; ayodhyām = for Ayodhyā; prasthitaḥ = he departed; rāmaḥ = Rāma; puṣpakeṇa = on the Puṣpaka airplane; suhṛd-vṛtaḥ = surrounded by His well-wishers.

Having obtained a boon from the celestials, Rāma gave life to the monkeys [who had died on the battlefield]. Surrounded by His well-wishers, He departed for Ayodhyā on the Puṣpaka airplane.

The celestials had come to congratulate Rāma’s victory [over Rāvaṇa]. With a boon from them, Rāma woke up the dead monkeys as if they had gone to sleep. Then, surrounded by His well-wishers—Sugrīva, Vibhīṣaṇa and others—He departed to Ayodhyā on the Puṣpaka airplane that Rāvaṇa had taken from Kuvera after conquering him.
