Chapter 1: Contents of the Rāmāyaṇa Summarized

राजवंशाञ्शतगुणान्स्थापयिष्यति राघवः।
चातुर्वर्ण्यं च लोकेऽस्मिन्स्वे स्वे धर्मे नियोक्ष्यति॥
rāja-vaṁśāñ śata-guṇān sthāpayiṣyati rāghavaḥ
cāturvarṇyaṁ ca loke ’smin sve sve dharme niyokṣyati
rāja-vaṁśān = the royal dynasties; śata-guṇān = a hundred times over; sthāpayiṣyati = will multiply; rāghavaḥ = that descendant of Raghu; cāturvarṇyam = the four varṇas; ca = also; loke asmin = in his kingdom; sve sve dharme = their respective specific varṇa-dharmas and āśrama-dharmas; niyokṣyati = he will have carry out.
That descendant of Raghu will multiply the royal dynasties a hundred times over. He will also have the four varṇas in His kingdom carry out their respective specific varṇa-dharmas and āśrama-dharmas.
He will give each royal dynasty a kingdom and cause them to maintain them.
In order to point out the abundant advantages incurred by His reestablishment of dharma, the sage describes in the next verse that He protected His kingdom for a long time.
