Chapter 10: Ṛśyaśṛṅga Comes to Romapada’s kingdom
Text 1.10.20
ततस्तास्तं समालिङ्ग्य सर्वा हर्षसमन्विताः।
मोदकान्प्रददुस्तस्मै भक्षांश्च विविधाञ्शुभान्॥
tatas tās taṁ samāliṅgya sarvā harṣa-samanvitāḥ
modakān pradadus tasmai bhakṣāṁś ca vividhāñ śubhān
tataḥ = then; tāḥ = them; tam = him; samāliṅgya = embracing; sarvāḥ = all of; harṣa-samanvitāḥ = with delight; modakān = sweets; pradaduḥ = gave; tasmai = him; bhakṣān = foods; ca = and; vividhān = of different kinds; śubhān = other nice.
Then, embracing him, all of them with delight gave him sweets and other nice foods of different kinds.
They embraced him as if out of affection to bring him under control.
