Chapter 10: Ṛśyaśṛṅga Comes to Romapada’s kingdom
Text 1.10.21
तानि चास्वाद्य तेजस्वी फलानीति स्म मन्यते।
अनास्वादितपूर्वाणि वने नित्यनिवासिनाम्॥
tāni cāsvādya tejasvī phalānīti sma manyate
anāsvādita-pūrvāṇi vane nitya-nivāsinām
tāni ca = them; asvādya = tasting; tejasvī = that powerful one; phalāni = those foods were fruits; iti = that; sma manyate = thought; anāsvādita-pūrvāṇi = that had not been relished; vane = in the forest; nitya-nivāsinām = by those who always lived.
Tasting them, that powerful one thought that those foods were fruits that had not been relished by those who always lived in the forest.
