Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 10: Ṛśyaśṛṅga Comes to Romapada’s kingdom
Text 1.10.23

गतासु तासु सर्वासु काश्यपस्यात्मजो द्विजः।
अस्वस्थहृदयश्चासीद्दुःखं स्म परिवर्तते॥

gatāsu tāsu sarvāsu kāśyapasyātmajo dvijaḥ
asvastha-hṛdayaś cāsīd duḥkhaṁ sma parivartate

gatāsu = when; tāsu = those ladies had gone; sarvāsu = all of; kāśyapasya = of Vibhaṇḍaka; atmajaḥ = son; dvijaḥ = of the twice-born; asvastha-hṛdayaḥ = the mind attracted to them; ca = and; āsīt = became; duḥkham = in distress; sma parivartate = he became restless.

When all of those ladies had gone, the mind of the twice-born son of Vibhaṇḍaka became attracted to them and he became restless in distress.

NOTE. This is the effect of the material mode of passion on his mind. Śrīla Prabhupāda notes in his purport to Bhagavad-gītā 14.7: “The mode of passion is characterized by the attraction between man and woman.”
