Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 11: Daśaratha Brings Ṛśyaśṛṅga to Ayodhyā
Text 1.11.30

अन्तःपुरस्त्रियः सर्वाः शान्तां दृष्ट्वा तथागताम्।
सह भर्त्रा विशालाक्षीं प्रीत्यानन्दमुपागमन्॥

antaḥ-pura-striyaḥ sarvāḥ śāntāṁ dṛṣṭvā tathāgatām
saha
bhartrā viśālākṣīṁ prītyānandam upāgaman

antaḥ-pura-striyaḥ = the ladies of the inner quarters; sarvāḥ = all; śāntām = Śāntā; dṛṣṭvā = noticing; tathā āgatām = had arrived; saha = with; bhartrā = her husband; viśāla-akṣīm = that the large-eyed; prītya = with love; ānandam = happy; upāgaman = became.

Noticing that the large-eyed Śāntā had arrived with her husband, all the ladies of the inner quarters became happy with love.

That the ladies of the inner quarters became happy with love on seeing Śāntā with her husband in Ayodhyā indicates that even when she had been a kanyā (an unmarried virgin girl), she used to occasionally visit Ayodhyā.
