Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 15: The Demigods Appeal to the Lord for Protection
Text 1.15.12

एवमुक्तः सुरैः सर्वैश्चिन्तयित्वा ततोऽब्रवीत्।
हन्तायं विदितस्तस्य वधोपायो दुरात्मनः॥

evam uktaḥ suraiḥ sarvaiś cintayitvā tato ’bravīt
hantāyaṁ
viditas tasya vadhopāyo durātmanaḥ

evam = thus; uktaḥ = having been addressed; suraiḥ = celestials; sarvaiḥ = by all; cintayitvā tataḥ = Lord Brahmā thought and; abravīt = said; hanta = oh; ayam viditaḥ = I know of the means; tasya vadha-upāyaḥ = to have that person killed; durātmanaḥ = evil-minded.

Having been addressed thus by all celestials, Lord Brahmā thought and said: Oh, I know of the means to have that evil-minded person killed!

Hanta indicates that Lord Brahmā was delighted upon remembering the means to have Rāvaṇa killed. He describes that means in the next verse.
