Chapter 19: Viśvāmitra Requests Daśaratha to Give Rāma
Text 1.19.10
श्रेयश्चास्मै प्रदास्यामि बहुरूपं न संशयः।
त्रयाणामपि लोकानां येन ख्यातिं गमिष्यति॥
śreyaś cāsmai pradāsyāmi bahu-rūpaṁ na saṁśayaḥ
trayāṇām api lokānāṁ yena khyātiṁ gamiṣyati
śreyaḥ ca = good; asmai = to Him; pradāsyāmi = I shall do; bahu-rūpam = in many ways; na saṁśayaḥ = undoubtedly; trayāṇām api = throughout the three; lokānām = worlds; yena = by which; khyātim = fame; gamiṣyati = he will attain.
Undoubtedly, I shall do good to Him in many ways by which He will attain fame throughout the three worlds.
Viśvāmitra will make Rāma famous for protecting his sacrifice, liberating Ahalyā from her husband’s curse on her and breaking Lord Śiva’s bow.
