Text 1.2.11
तं शोणितपरीताङ्गं वेष्टमानं महीतले।
भार्या तु निहतं दृष्ट्वा रुराव करुणां गिरम्॥
taṁ śoṇita-parītāṅgaṁ veṣṭamānaṁ mahī-tale
bhāryā tu nihataṁ dṛṣṭvā rurāva karuṇāṁ giram
tam = the male bird; śoṇita-parīta aṅgam = with blood all over its body; veṣṭamānam = and so rolling; mahī-tale = on the ground; bhāryā tu = its wife; nihatam = shot [by the hunter]; dṛṣṭvā= seeing; rurāva = cried; karuṇām giram = piteously.
Seeing the male bird shot by the hunter and so rolling on the ground with blood all over its body, its wife cried piteously.
