बालो ह्यकृतविद्यश्च न च वेत्ति बलाबलम्।
न चास्त्रबलसंयुक्तो न च युद्धविशारदः॥
bālo hy akṛta-vidyaś ca na ca vetti balābalam
na cāstra-bala-saṁyukto na ca yuddha-viśāradaḥ
bālaḥ hi = indeed, He is a boy of less than sixteen; akṛta-vidyaḥ ca = and hence untrained in Dhanurveda; na ca vetti = He cannot properly estimate; bala-abalam = the strength and weakness of His opponents; na ca = He is neither; astra-bala-saṁyuktaḥ = endowed with the strength of weapons; na ca = nor; yuddha-viśāradaḥ = experienced in warfare.
Indeed, He is a boy of less than sixteen and hence untrained in Dhanurveda.1 He cannot properly estimate the strength and weakness of His opponents. He is neither endowed with the strength of weapons nor experienced in warfare.
