Chapter 21: The Anger and Appeasal of Viśvāmitra
Text 21

तेषां निग्रहणे शक्तः स्वयं च कुशिकात्मजः।
धनुर्भृतोऽस्य शक्रस्तु बिभीयात्समरे विभो।
तव पुत्रहितार्थाय त्वामुपेत्याभियाचते॥

teṣāṁ nigrahaṇe śaktaḥ svayaṁ ca kuśikātmajaḥ
dhanur-bhṛto
’sya śakras tu bibhīyāt samare vibho
tava
putra-hitārthāya tvām upetyābhiyācate

teṣām = those rākṣasas; nigrahaṇe = of subduing; śaktaḥ = is capable; svayam ca = personally; kuśika-ātmajaḥ = the son of Kuśika; dhanuḥ-bhṛtaḥ asya = when he would take up his bow; śakraḥ tu = even Indra; bibhīyāt = would become frightened; samare = in war; vibho = O Lord; tava = your; putra-hita-arthāya = for son’s benefit; tvām = you; upetya = he has approached and; abhiyācate = thus requested.

The son of Kuśika is personally capable of subduing those rākṣasas. O Lord, when he would take up his bow in war, even Indra would become frightened. For your son’s benefit, he has approached and requested you thus.
