Chapter 23: The History of Kāmāśrama
Text 1.23.10
कन्दर्पो मूर्तिमानासीत्काम इत्युच्यते बुधैः॥
kandarpo mūrtimān āsīt kāma ity ucyate budhaiḥ
kandarpaḥ = lust; mūrtimān = the personification of; āsīt = was; kāmaḥ = Kāma; iti = that; ucyate = state; budhaiḥ = the wise.
The personification of lust is known as Kāma to the wise.
