Chapter 23: The History of Kāmāśrama
Text 1.23.15

तस्यायमाश्रमः पुण्यस्तस्येमे मुनयः पुरा।
शिष्या धर्मपरा नित्यं तेषां पापं न विद्यते॥

tasyāyam āśramaḥ puṇyas tasyeme munayaḥ purā
śiṣyā
dharma-parā nityaṁ teṣāṁ pāpaṁ na vidyate

tasya = his; ayam = this is; āśramaḥ = āśrama; puṇyaḥ = pious; tasya = his; ime = these; munayaḥ = sages; purā = from that time were; śiṣyāḥ = disciples; dharma-parāḥ = intent on dharma; nityam = they are always; teṣām = and they; pāpam = sins; na vidyate = have no.

This is his pious āśrama. These sages were his disciples from that time.1 They are always intent on dharma and they have no sins.

The statement found in some Purāṇas that Kāma had attacked Lord Śiva when the latter was performing austerities in the Himālayas should be understood to pertain to an incident in another day of Lord Brahmā.

1 “His disciples” refer to Rudra’s disciples.
