Text 1.23.18

तेषां सम्वदतां तत्र तपोदीर्घेण चक्षुषा।
विज्ञाय परमप्रीता मुनयो हर्षमागमन्॥

teṣāṁ samvadatāṁ tatra tapo-dīrgheṇa cakṣuṣā
vijñāya
parama-prītā munayo harṣam āgaman

teṣām samvadatām = while they were conversing among themselves; tatra = there; tapaḥ-dīrgheṇa = achieved through long penances; cakṣuṣā = through spiritual vision; vijñāya = realized their presence; parama-prītāḥ = and being greatly pleased; munayaḥ = the sages [in the āśrama]; harṣam = ecstatically delighted; āgaman = became.

While they were conversing among themselves, the sages [in the āśrama] realized their presence there through spiritual vision achieved through long penances, and being greatly pleased, became ecstatically delighted.

Through long penances, they achieved the ability to perceive events at a distance and time such as the killing of Tāṭakā. They became so delighted that the hairs on their bodies stood on end.
