Chapter 23: The History of Kāmāśrama
Text 1.23.3

तस्यर्षेः परमोदारं वचः श्रुत्वा नरोत्तमौ।
स्नात्वा कृतोदकौ वीरौ जेपतुः परमं जपम्॥

tasyarṣeḥ paramodāraṁ vacaḥ śrutvā narottamau
snātvā
kṛtodakau vīrau jepatuḥ paramaṁ japam

tasya = of the; rṣeḥ = sage; parama-udāram = the deeply grave; vacaḥ = words; śrutvā = hearing; nara-uttamau = princes; snātvā = took bath; kṛta-udakau = performed Their ceremonial offerings to the devas and ṛṣis; vīrau = those heroic; jepatuḥ = and chanted [the gāyatrī]; paramam japam = the supreme mantra for japa.

Hearing the deeply grave words of the sage, those heroic princes took bath, performed Their ceremonial offerings to the devas and ṛṣis and chanted [the gayatri], the supreme mantra for japa.[6]
