Chapter 26: The Killing of the Demoness Tāṭakā
Text 1.26.3
अनुशिष्टोऽस्म्ययोध्यायां गुरुमध्ये महात्मना।
पित्रा दशरथेनाहं नावज्ञेयं च तद्वचः॥
anuśiṣṭo ’smy ayodhyāyāṁ guru-madhye mahātmanā
pitrā daśarathenāhaṁ nāvajñeyaṁ ca tad-vacaḥ
anuśiṣṭaḥ = instructed; asmi = was; ayodhyāyām = in Ayodhyā; guru-madhye = in the presence of Our gurus; mahā-ātmanā = the great soul; pitrā = by My father; daśarathena = Daśaratha [to carry out your instructions]; aham = I; na avajñeyam ca = I will not dishonor; tat-vacaḥ = his words.
In Ayodhyā, in the presence of Our gurus, I was instructed by My father, the great soul Daśaratha, [to carry out your instructions]. I will not dishonor his words.
