Chapter 28: Viśvāmitra Teaches Rāma to Withdraw Divine Weapons
Text 1.28.3-9

एवं ब्रुवति काकुत्स्थे विश्वामित्रो महायशाः।
संहारं व्याजहाराथ धृतिमान्सुव्रतः शुचिः॥

सत्यवन्तं सत्यकीर्तिं धृष्टं रभसमेव च।
प्रतिहारतरं नाम पराङ्मुखमवाङ्मुखं॥

लक्षाक्षविषमौ चैव दृढनाभसुनाभकौ।
दशाक्षशतवक्त्रौ च दशशीर्षशतोदरौ॥

पद्मनाभमहानाभौ दुन्दुनाभसुनाभकौ।
ज्योतिषं कृशनं चैव नैराश्यविमलावुभौ॥

योगन्धरहरिद्रौ च दैत्यप्रशमनौ तथा।
शुचिर्बाहुर्महाबाहुर्निकुलिर्विरुचिस्तथा।
सार्चिमाली धृतिर्माली वृत्तिमान्रुचिरस्तथा॥

पित्र्यं सौमनसं चैव विधूतमकरावुभौ।
करवीरकरं चैव धनधान्यौ च राघव॥

कामरूपं कामरुचिं मोहमावरणं तथा।
जृम्भकं सर्वनाभं च सन्तानवरणौ तथा॥

evaṁ bruvati kākutsthe viśvāmitro mahā-yaśāḥ
saṁhāraṁ
vyājahārātha dhṛtimān suvrataḥ śuciḥ

satyavantaṁ satyakīrtiṁ dhṛṣṭaṁ rabhasam eva ca
pratihārataraṁ
nāma parāṅmukham avāṅmukhaṁ

lakṣākṣa-viṣamau caiva dṛḍhanābha-sunābhakau
daśākṣa-śatavaktrau
ca daśaśīrṣa-śatodarau

padmanābha-mahānābhau dundunābha-sunābhakau
jyotiṣaṁ
kṛśanaṁ caiva nairāśya-vimalāv ubhau

yogandhara-haridrau ca daitya-praśamanau tathā
śucir
bāhur mahābāhur nikulir virucis tathā
sārcimālī
dhṛtir mālī vṛttimān ruciras tathā

pitryaṁ saumanasaṁ caiva vidhūta-makarāv ubhau
karavīrakaraṁ
caiva dhana-dhānyau ca rāghava

kāmarūpaṁ kāmaruciṁ moham āvaraṇaṁ tathā
jṛmbhakaṁ
sarvanābhaṁ ca santāna-varaṇau tathā

When Kākutstha Rāma spoke thus, Viśvāmitra of great fame, filled with love, good vows and purity uttered the mantras for withdrawal: O Rāghava, [here are] Satyavān, Satyakīrti, Dhṛṣṭa, Rabhasa, Pratihāratara, Parāṅmukha, Avāṅmukha, Lakṣākṣa, Viṣama, Dṛḍhanābha, Sunābha, Daśākṣa, Śatavaktra, Daśaśīrṣa, Śatodara, Padmanābha, Mahānābha, Dundunābha, Sunābha, Jyotis, Kṛśana, Nairāśya, Vimala, Yogandhara and Haridra that subdue the daityas, Śuci, Bāhu, Mahābāhu, Nikuli, Viruci, Sārcimālī, Dhṛti, Mālī, Vṛttimān, Rucira, Pitrya, Saumanasa, Vidhūta, Makara, Karavīrakara, Dhana, Dhānya, Kāmarūpa, Kāmaruci, Moha, Āvaraṇa, Jṛmbhaka, Sarvanābha, Santāna and Varaṇa.
