Chapter 31: Viśvāmitra, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa Depart for Mithilā
Text 1.31.21
तेऽस्तं गते दिनकरे स्नात्वा हुतहुताशनाः।
विश्वामित्रं पुरस्कृत्य निषेदुरमितौजसः॥
te ’staṁ gate dinakare snātvā huta-hutāśanāḥ
viśvāmitraṁ puraskṛtya niṣedur amitaujasaḥ
te = those sages; astam gate dinakare = when the sun set; snātvā = having bathed at Śoṇā; huta-huta-aśanāḥ = performed their evening fire sacrifice; viśvāmitram = Viśvāmitra; puraskṛtya = honored and; niṣeduḥ = then sat down; amita-ojasaḥ = of immeasurable prowess.
Having bathed at Śoṇā, when the sun set, those sages of immeasurable prowess performed their evening fire sacrifice, honored Viśvāmitra and then sat down.
