Chapter 35: The History of Gaṅga
Text 1.35.7
ते गत्वा दूरमध्वानं गतेऽर्धदिवसे तदा।
जाह्नवीं सरितां श्रेष्ठां ददृशुर्मुनिसेविताम्॥
te gatvā dūram adhvānaṁ gate ’rdha-divase tadā
jāhnavīṁ saritāṁ śreṣṭhāṁ dadṛśur muni-sevitām
te = they; gatvā = when had walked; dūram = a long; adhvānam = distance; gate ardha-divase tadā = for half a day; jāhnavīm = Gaṅgā; saritām = of rivers; śreṣṭhām = the best; dadṛśuḥ = they saw; muni-sevitām = resorted by the sages.
When they had walked a long distance for half a day, they saw Gaṅgā, the best of rivers, resorted to by the sages.
