Chapter 36: Umā Curses the Demigods
Text 1.36.15
धारयिष्याम्यहं तेजस्तेजस्येव सहोमया।
त्रिदशाः पृथिवी चैव निर्वाणमधिगच्छतु॥
dhārayiṣyāmy ahaṁ tejas tejasy eva sahomayā
tri-daśāḥ pṛthivī caiva nirvāṇam adhigacchatu
dhārayiṣyāmi = will hold; aham = I; tejaḥ = a part of my powerful semen; tejasi eva = in my powerful body; saha umayā = along with Umā; tri-daśāḥ = the demigods; pṛthivī ca eva = and the three worlds; nirvāṇam adhigacchatu = may be happy.
I will hold a part of my powerful semen in my powerful body along with Umā. May the demigods and the three worlds be happy.
This is how Lord Śiva agreed to the prayer of the demigods.
