Chapter 37: The History of Skanda
Text 1.37.23
तं देशं तु ततो ब्रह्मा सम्प्राप्यैनमभाषत।
जातस्य रूपं यत्तस्माज्जातरूपं भविष्यति॥
taṁ deśaṁ tu tato brahmā samprāpyainam abhāṣata
jātasya rūpaṁ yat tasmāj jāta-rūpaṁ bhaviṣyati
tam deśam tu = that place; tataḥ = then; brahmā = Lord Brahmā; samprāpya = reached and; enam abhāṣata = said; jātasya rūpam yat = because gold has attained a beautiful complexion (rūpa) on the birth of this child; tasmāt jāta-rūpam bhaviṣyati = it will be known as jāta-rūpa.
Then, Lord Brahmā reached that place and said: Because gold has attained a beautiful complexion (rūpa) on the birth of this child (jāta), it will be known as jāta-rūpa.
