Chapter 39: Sagara’s Sons Search for the Sacrificial Horse
Text 1.39.22
एवं पर्वतसम्बाधं जम्बूद्वीपं नृपात्मजाः।
खनन्तो नृपशार्दूल सर्वतः परिचक्रमुः॥
evaṁ parvata-sambādhaṁ jambūdvīpaṁ nṛpātmajāḥ
khananto nṛpa-śārdūla sarvataḥ paricakramuḥ
evam = thus; parvata-sambādham = which was thickly clustered with the mountains; jambūdvīpam = into Jambūdvīpa; nṛpa-ātmajāḥ = the princes; khanantaḥ = while digging; nara-śārdūla = O tiger among men; sarvataḥ = all over; paricakramuḥ = roamed [all over the earth].
O tiger among men, the princes thus roamed all over [the earth] while digging into Jambūdvīpa which was thickly clustered with mountains.
