Chapter 40: Lord Kapila Punishes Sagara’s Sons
Text 1.40.25-26

ते तु सर्वे महात्मानो भीमवेगा महाबलाः।
ददृशुः कपिलं तत्र वासुदेवं सनातनम्॥

हयं च तस्य देवस्य चरन्तमविदूरतः।
प्रहर्षमतुलं प्राप्ताः सर्वे ते रघुनन्दन॥

te tu sarve mahātmāno bhīma-vegā mahā-balāḥ
dadṛśuḥ
kapilaṁ tatra vāsudevaṁ sanātanam

hayaṁ ca tasya devasya carantam avidūrataḥ
praharṣam
atulaṁ prāptāḥ sarve te raghu-nandana

te tu sarve = all of them; mahā-ātmānaḥ = with large bodies; bhīma-vegāḥ = terrible speed; mahā-balāḥ = and great strength; dadṛśuḥ = noticed; kapilam = in His incarnation as Kapila; tatra = there; vāsudevam = Lord Vāsudeva; sanātanam = the eternal; hayam = the sacrificial horse; ca = as well as; tasya = from the; devasya = the Lord; carantam = wondering; avidūrataḥ = not far; praharṣam = delighted; atulam = incomparably; prāptāḥ = became; sarve = all; te = the sons of Sagara; raghu-nandana = O beloved of the Raghus.

O beloved of the Raghus, all of them with large bodies, terrible speed and great strength noticed the eternal Lord Vāsudeva in His incarnation as Kapila as well as the sacrificial horse wandering there not far from the Lord. All the sons of Sagara became incomparably delighted.

The horse was eating grass nearby.
