Chapter 40: Lord Kapila Punishes Sagara’s Sons
Text 1.40.6
सगरस्य च पुत्राणां प्रादुरासीन्महात्मनाम्।
पृथिव्यां भिद्यमानायां निर्घातसमनिःस्वनः॥
sagarasya ca putrāṇāṁ prādurāsīn mahātmanām
pṛthivyāṁ bhidyamānāyāṁ nirghāta-sama-niḥsvanaḥ
sagarasya ca putrāṇām = the sons of Sagara; prādurāsīt = happened; mahā-ātmanām = greatly intelligent; pṛthivyām = through the earth; bhidyamānāyām = while digging; nirghāta-sama-niḥsvanaḥ = to hear a loud noise like that of an earthquake.
The greatly intelligent sons of Sagara heard a loud noise like that of an earthquake when they dug through the earth.
