Chapter 41: Aṁśumān Searches for His Uncles and the Horse
Text 1.41.26
स्वपुरं चागमच्छ्रीमानिष्टयज्ञो महीपतिः।
गङ्गायाश्चागमे राजा निश्चयं नाध्यगच्छत॥
sva-puraṁ cāgamac chrīmān iṣṭa-yajño mahī-patiḥ
gaṅgāyāś cāgame rājā niścayaṁ nādhyagacchata
sva-puram ca = to his city; agamat = went; śrīmān = the opulent; iṣṭa-yajñaḥ = having completed his desired sacrifice; mahī-patiḥ = the king; gaṅgāyāḥ = Gaṅgā; ca = but; āgame = to bring to earth; rājā = the king; niścayam = a means; na = not; adhyagacchata = could find.
The opulent king, having completed his desired sacrifice went to his city. But the king could not find a means to bring Gaṅgā [to earth].
